- RAM, or random access memory, is where short term memory is stored on your computer.
- If you're not building a high-end computer, you might be using DDR2 RAM. Most modern RAM is DDR3.
- Different motherboards support different RAM, so check your motherboard specifications to see what types of RAM are supported.
- Most motherboards have two or four slots for RAM.
- If your motherboard supports four slots, you'll want to install your RAM in pairs in either the first and third slots or the second and fourth.
- To install the RAM, first push back the fins on either side of the RAM slot.
- Match the tabs on the RAM with the RAM slot and gently press the RAM into place. The fins should automatically close.
