Windows Updates are designed to fix bugs and patch security flaws within Windows. To keep you and your computer safe from security threats you need to make sure that these updates are installed as they become available.

- Click Start, then Control Panel.
- In Control Panel double-click on Windows Updates.
- You'll see the status of your Windows Updates.
- Click on Change settings to double-check your settings.
- You should have Install automatic updates selected.
- New updates should be installed every day at the time of your
choosing.
- There are other options, but they do NOT protect you or your computer
from threats like the Conficker Worm.
- If you elect to decide when to install an update you may forget to
install it, so it's best to have updates installed automatically.
