Making the Move to Mac

A couple of the features that set the Mac apart, features that are without equal in Windows, are Spaces and Expose. These two features of OS X can become an indispensable part of your computer work flow once you've configured them to your liking.

Expose
- Hit F3 to toggle Expose on or off on newer Macs. On some older Macs, the key is Fn + F11.
- Expose spreads out all of your open windows and applications so you can see them at a glance.
- Hover over a window in Expose for the file or application name of that window.
- Click on any window in Expose to bring it to the forefront.
Spaces
To launch Spaces, click on the Spaces shortcut in the .
- Spaces act as virtual desktops.
- You can move applications and open windows between virtual desktops in Spaces.
- To focus on (use) a desktop in Spaces, click on said desktop in the Spaces window.
To change behaviors in Spaces and Expose
- Click on the Apple menu and choose Expose & Spaces under the Personal heading.
Expose
- Set Screen Corners to perform a specific action when you mouse over the different corners of your desktop.
- Under the Expose heading you can choose to set keyboard or mouse shortcuts to launch Expose.
Spaces
- Spaces can be customized to display your chosen number and layout of Spaces in rows and columns.
- In the Application Assignments you can choose how applications behave with regard to Spaces. You can set an application to automatically launch and stay in all Spaces (virtual desktops), be confined to one Space or always launch into a given Space.
