With some mobile devices you can't be certain exactly what's running and it can be difficult to stop programs. Not true on your Android device. You can easily look at running services and stop them if desired.

Show Notes

- The term service in relation to computing devices refers to a program. So, for example, your Web browser is running as a service.

- On your Android phone, tap on Settings and under Settings, tap on Applications.

- Under Applications, tap on Running services.

- Here, you can clearly see exactly what's running on your phone.

- In many cases, it will even show how long a service has been running.

- To stop a service you don't want to be running, just tap it.

- A dialog will come up telling you that if you stop it the application won't be on again till you start it. That sounds good to me.

- Tap Stop to close the service or tap Cancel to leave it running.

Hmm, I'm not even sure how you did that. All you should have to do is power off your device and then turn it back on. .... Doc

This is great! But I shut off the USB service and now I don't know how to turn it on again... any ideas? :-)
