Show Notes
What makes having Sonos really worthwhile is being able to stream music throughout your home or office, whether that's from a music library on your network or from a service on the web.
During the initial setup you'll need to give your Sonos system at least one location to access music from. If you have all of your music in one location, that's great. If not, you can add multiple locations (such as multiple computers or a network attached storage device) so that you can access all of it from one location.
To add more music sources open up the controller software, click Music at the top, then click Set Up Music Library... Here you can add more locations or remove locations. In our demo here we have our music on this Verbatim MediaShare 1TB. You'll need to enter a location and may even need to enter a user name and password. Once that's done the Sonos will index the new files. This can take some time.
To set up music streaming services you'll need to click Music again but this time click Set Up Services. Hit Add, then select the service that you want to add. Choose between Spotify, Audible, AUPEO!, Last.fm, Napster, Rdio, Stitcher or Wolfgang's Vault. Select one, hit Continue and then enter your login information.
Sonos also comes prepopulated with a number of Internet radio stations that you can listen to. You can also add more of these, search for local stations and even add favorites so you can find your most frequently visited stations more often.
