Images can really add to the impact of your Website. You can include pictures of products, family, friends, gadgets or just about anything else you want. When using images on a Website, however, you want to follow certain guidelines so as not to get stuck with a

slow web page load

for your visitors.

- Keep in mind that too many images or images that are too large can slow down how fast your pages load.

- Large sites, like Tucows and butterscotch, have many servers so they can handle lots of images.

- When you're on a hosting site that hosts thousands of other web sites in addition to yours, the size of images can have more impact.

- Look at you images and size them down to a manageable size.

- You want to convey what you're looking to express and do it in a smaller size.

- Have your images focus on the subjects of the image and remove extraneous background on sides, top, and bottom.

- Resize images to the size you want them to appear on your site using a program like IrfanView (free software)

Tips for editing images images for use online
- Resize the pic to the size you want it to appear on your site.
- Save in the JPG file format.
- Adjust the JPG quality to something that looks good but that keeps the file size down. 70% is a good starting point.

- If you keep the size and number of images under control your site will load quickly.
