- When you have a lot of email it's handy to be able to search it.
- You can do simple searches from the search window at the right end of the toolbar.
- Type in a name, a word, and messages containing that criteria will contain that information.
- To do really powerful searches click on Edit and then on Find. Then click Search Messages.
- We recommend checking the Search subfolders box so your searches are thorough.
- You can match exactly or you can match any part of your search.
- You can search on a wide range of criteria including Subject, To, From, Body, Date, and more.
- You can determine if your search contain/doesn't contain or is/isn't and more.
- Then you can indicate what you're searching for.
- Click the + sign to add more search parameters.
- Click Search and your results appear below.
- If you wish you can Save as Search Folder and you're prompted to give the folder a name. By default it will have the magnifying glass search icon.
- If you search for Tags, it not only finds the proper tab, but displays the tag's color as well.
- The search function in Thunderbird is very powerful and easy to use.
