Learning how to use basic boolean search terms will help you narrow or broaden your search when you're using most search engines. It's a powerful skill that, once mastered, allows you to find what you're looking for and find it faster.

AND: Using AND narrows a search by combining terms.
OR: Using OR broadens a search to include results that contain either of the words you're looking for.
NOT: Using NOT will narrow a search by exclusion. Some search engines, like Google, recognize the minus (-) sign instead of the word NOT.
Quotations: Wrapping quotations around a specific phrase will help you narrow results in order to find only sites containing that exact wording.
