How do I print wirelessly

Wednesday August 24, 2011
As Android devices are gaining in popularity we've decided to show you how to

print wirelessly through your Android

. Now there are a few options available to you depending on what app you want to use and what printer you have hooked up. You can either go about getting an app like HP IPrint Photo which works exclusively with HP printers or get a more generic app like PrinterShare Mobile Print.

Just as iPhone and iPad have AirPrint to facilitate wireless printing, Android devices use apps to allow you to print.

One option you might want to try is called PrinterShare Mobile Print. This application can tap into your calendar, contacts, messages, documents and more and allows you to print from there. Tap the settings button to see your various printer connection options including

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

. We chose to connect to our printer using Wi-Fi.

A major caveat when using this particular app is that while this application is free you will need to pay to upgrade if you want to actually print anything. While that sounds like a rip-off the app does allow you to see if you can actually download drivers (necessary for printing) before forcing you to pay for the app.

A better software solution might involve searching for an application that's unique to your printer manufacturer. For example, HP has HP IPrint Photo which we'll be using here. This app gives you the option of printing from file or straight from your gallery. While this app only works with HP model printers it is free, and other hardware manufacturers may have their own solutions.
