Show Notes
- We're going to create a Loops project to demonstrate the workflow of GarageBand. Give your project a specific name and location so that you can find it later.
- Drag two loops into the timeline. No matter what you pick, they will be in time.
- If you try to close your project, you will be asked if you'd like to save your project. If you click Save, you will be asked if you'd like to create an iLife preview, which allows you to preview your project without actually opening it.
- Back at the Projects menu, you can now select Recent Projects where you will see the last project that you had open. Click Open to open it.
- Now choose to add a real instrument. You will notice that the record button in the left pane is red, which allows you to hit the record button in the control pane to immediately start recording.
- If you click Save As under File, you will see some more options. If you want to be able to bring your project to another computer to work on, you'll want to select Archive Project in order to save all of the components including photos, videos, etc.
- Selecting Compact Project will convert the audio files into .mp3 files, so the entire project will be smaller but the audio quality will be lower.
- When you are finished with your project, you can click Share at the top and choose to Export to Disk, Send Song to iTunes and more, each with its own settings.
