so that you can offer your opinion on how much you

liked a movie or video

, but ratings also help you by giving Hulu something to work with so that

Hulu will recommend videos

to you. Once you've rated enough videos, Hulu will get a better idea of what you like and be able to provide recommendations based on the sorts of

videos that suit your preferences

- Hulu recommendations are a great way to find shows that you've never heard of.

- In order to make recommendations work for you, then be sure you rate shows and movies that you've watched so that Hulu can learn from you.

- Whenever you've finished watching a show or video, use the stars to rate it.

- After you do this a couple of times, you can click Recommendations in the drop-down menu under your username and see what Hulu thinks you'll like.

- This is also where you'll find your Channel Preferences. Click Channel Preferences to be able to rate and adjust your preferences.
