- Your
MIDI keyboard
will allow you to take control of thepiano roll or sequencer
to play sounds.- With your MIDI device plugged in, ensure that "Enable MIDI remote control" is checked in the FL Studio Options menu.
- In the Options menu, click on Settings. Look for your MIDI controller here.
- To
activate a MIDI device
, select the device in the Input menu and select Enable.- Select an instrument to play via your MIDI controller. Click the record button and hit play or press the spacebar to begin recording.
How to record instruments or mic input in FL Studio
- Open the mixer window
- Select an empty channel and choose the input device from the drop-down menu at in the top-right of the mixer.
- Load the Edison plugin into an available effects slot in the mixer.
- Ensure that the LED for "ON INPUT" is selected and hit the record button.
- Edison will start recording when it hears sound coming in.
- When you're finished recording, hit stop in the Edison window and in the FL Studio main window.
- Click and drag to select a portion of the recorded wave.
- Zoom in and out with the Pg Up and Pg Dn buttons.
- Use the magnet to choose a selection snapping mode.
- Click the drag copy sample selection button to an empty space on the sequencer window to work your sample into the pattern.
