Restoring Your Data After Windows XP Reinstall

Pt. 9 of 10 | 2:27 |

Reinstalling Windows XP

Thursday June 11, 2009
You've visited Windows Update and gotten everything you needed from

there. Now it's time to

restore all the items you backed up

before this adventure started. Your documents, photos, music, bookmarks, desktop items, and more. If you backed up programs and data you can use your backup program to restore everything as it was. If you only backed up data then it's time to

reinstall your programs

and put the data back in its place.

Show Notes

- If you backed up both programs and data the first thing you'll need to do is

restore your backup program

.

- Once your backup program is installed you're ready to go.

- Use the backup program to restore your programs and data. Follow the programs instructions for this.

- If you were only able to backup data it's not really a big deal.

- Download and reinstall all of your programs.

- Make sure that each program has the data folder that you backed up.

- Example: If you backed up the Data folder of ClipMate make sure the
new install has the DATA folder.

- If not, create it.

- Select all the data IN the Data folder and drag it and drop it in the
new Data folder.

- See these other tutorials for dynamic examples of how this is done.

- Restore bookmarks, desktop items, and all the rest.

- Relax, it's not an emergency and your PC is now much happier.

- One more step to do.
