There is a lot of interest in

rooting Android phones

due to the extra control it gives you over your handset. In this tutorial, we show you

how to root your Android phone

using the

Samsung Galaxy S

as an example. The method we use also allows you to

unroot your Android

if the need should arise.

Show Notes

- In our tutorial, we used a Samsung Galaxy S but there are a number of Android phones that can be rooted using these steps.

- First, go to 4shared.com.

- In the search bar, type in z4root.apk and open the link that appears.

- Once the file is downloaded, just open and install it.

- You'll be asked whether you want to do a

temporary root

or a permanent root. In our case, we chose permanent.

- You may also be prompted to enable USB debugging, which can be found in your Settings menu.

- When you select permanent root, your phone will reboot, though the process may take some time. Once it reboots, it will be rooted.

- Load the z4root.apk file again to either reroot or unroot your phone.
