show notes

- Download Parallels Desktop for Mac.

- Install it on your Mac and double-click on the program icon.

- When the interface opens it will either be empty or it may show VMware Fusion virtual machines if you are already using that program.

- Click on the + sign, then click Continue.

- In this example we're going to use an ISO disc image of Ubuntu Linux. Not only is this easy to do, but Ubuntu is free.

- Click on Choose and use the file dialog to find the disc image you want.

- Select the image, click Open and then click Continue.

- Parallels will determine the needs and type of virtual machine.

- When it's finished just click Done.

- A window will now appear showing the name of the virtual machine.

- Remember at this point the virtual machine hasn't been created, it's just been prepared.

- The creation will begin when you click Start.
