While computers don't put out greenhouse gases, the power they use does. So, if you'd like to do your part to reduce global warming check out LocalCooling. It's free and it's easy-to-use.

Show Notes

- Download
LocalCooling
and install it

- Open LocalCooling and view the small summary screen.

- Click on Settings to open up the program to it's full mode.

- The General tab gives you an overview of your power settings, what you've saved in the way of trees, oil, and kilowatts of energy, and a summary of what you save each day.

- If you click the My Power tab you see a nice overview of how much energy your computer and its components use.

- Click on the Advanced tab to set each level to the number you want it to be.

- You can have LocalCooling never shut down your PC before a certain time.

- Another nice feature is the ability to tell LocalCooling not to shut down the PC if a certain program is running, like your backup software for example.

- Click on the My Account tab to log into your LocalCooling account.

- If you use the same account from multiple computers all of your energy savings are added together.
