QR codes, also known as 2D barcodes, are often found on products, online, or on billboards and other advertising. In order to see what these codes are actually used for, you'll need to scan them with a QR scanner. Fortunately, there are free applications out there that allow you to scan these codes from your Android, as we'll show you in this tutorial.

Show Notes

- QR codes are barcodes that can hold much more information than a standard barcode and often direct you to an online resource, contest, contact info or an app download.

- Before you can use QR codes though, you'll need a QR code reader. To get one, go to the Android Market, search for ShopSavvy and download the app.

- Once the app is installed, you can start scanning. Just launch the application and line up the red line on your phone's screen with the code you want to scan. Hold it steady until it vibrates and you'll instantly be brought to the resource.

- Besides letting you easily scan 2D barcodes, ShopSavvy can also scan traditional barcodes. Get prices on a book by scanning the UPC or scan the barcode on a DVD or video game to find the cheapest price online or offline.
