Setting up an email account in Thunderbird
Chances are, you havemultiple email addresses
. One for personal, one given to you by the office, one for social networking, perhaps one that's just for family and close friends. Thunderbird makes it easy to set up and manage multiple email accounts. You can even easily set up your free email accounts like Hotmail, Yahoo! andGmail in Thunderbird

- Thunderbird lets you configure accounts for newsgroups, RSS, Gmail, and email. For this tutorial we'll configure email.
- Select Email account and click Next.
- Type on your name and you want it to appear in emails.
- Type in your email address and click Next.
- Select POP or IMAP.
- If you wish all your email to go into one global incoming folder then leave the box checked for Global Inbox.
- If, on the other hand, you want to sort mail by various accounts, uncheck the Global Inbox.
- Enter your outgoing, SMTP, server and click Next.
- POP and IMAP incoming and outgoing server information is available from your ISP.
- Enter your incoming and outgoing user names and click Next.
- Give the account a name that you'll recognize like Work, Home, etc. and click Next.
- Thunderbird summarizes your account information. Click Finish.
- You're done and can start receiving email.
