Setting up dual monitors on the MacBook or MacBook Pro

Before we can

attach a second monitor

to our MacBook or MacBook Pro, we'll need to figure out what, if any, display adapters we'll need. Different generations of MacBook and MacBook Pro use different connections; DVI, MiniDVI and if we cast our memory back, VGA too. Michael Callahan demonstrates how to determine which connector your MacBook Pro has on board. With the right adapter, you can even

connect your MacBook or MacBook Pro to your TV

show notes

- Different generations of Apple laptops use different video connection ports.

- The MacBook Pro used in this tutorial has a DVI (Digital Video Interface) adapter.

- This port will also accept a VGA (Video Graphics Array) connection with an adapter.

- In order to do this you'll have to have a VGA to DVI adapter available at Apple stores.

- Just connect the cable from the monitor to the port on your MacBook or MacBook Pro.

- Once connected the rest is primarily adjusting your settings and getting used to using two monitors.
