To get started using your HTC HD7, press the power button after charging your phone to boot it up. Once it's started, you'll see a

welcome screen

where you'll need to click get started to continue. Now, select your language and click next. You'll now be at the terms of use screen where you have the option of reviewing the terms. You'll need to accept before you can continue. Next, you'll need to choose whether you want to use the

recommended settings

or customize them yourself.

If you choose custom, you'll have the option of disabling the phone's data usage or opting out of sending user information back to Microsoft. From the next screen you'll need to select your time zone. Click next and, if you don't have a data connection, you'll need to set the time and date.

You'll now be asked for your

Windows Live ID

. If you use Hotmail, MSN Messenger, Windows Live, etc. then that is the information that you'll want to enter. Otherwise, you can create an ID or choose to skip this step. Once you've entered your information, your phone will sync with your contacts and pull that information in. After this step, you'll be taken to the home screen.

An important step is to set up your Wi-Fi. To do this, tap the right arrow from the home screen then go to Settings. Tap the option that says Wi-Fi then find the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to. Enter the password if necessary and you'll connect to that network, letting you save money on your data plan.
