Hotmail has a variety of features to help with privacy issues. In this episode we'll show you how you can change your password, (make sure you choose a strong password that you can remember) set up filters, and set up a vacation message, aka an auto-responder.

Sign up for Windows Live Hotmail
- To access Hotmail's privacy settings click on the Options link at the top right of the page. Then click on more options.
- To edit your personal information (i.e. password, parental permissions, etc.) click on the View and edit your personal information link under the Manage your account heading.
- To add e-mail addresses to your account click the Send and receive mail from other e-mail accounts that you own and have access to.
- To add a vacation responder click the Send automated vacation replies.
- From this menu you'll be able to type a message to be sent to people if you are away from your e-mail for prolonged periods of time. Type your message and click Save at the bottom of the page.
- To set up junk filters click on Filters and reporting under the Junk e-mail heading.
- If you want certain e-mails to arrive in specific folders you can set up a filter to do just that.
- Click Automatically sort e-mail into folders under the 'Customize your mail' heading.
- Then click the New filter button.
- Create the appropriate filter by selecting if the e-mails are coming from a particular address, person, mailing list etc. You can customize this filter in a variety of ways so take a look very carefully at how you set it up.
- After you've created the parameters of the filter, select where you would like filtered e-mails to be sorted.
- Click save in the bottom right of the page.
- To change the first thing you see when you log in click Today page settings.
- You can either have it set to the Today page which has news and and updates, or just your e-mail account.
- Select what you would like and click Save.
