In the Apple announcement that introduced new and improved iPods, they also introduced "Ping."

Ping allows you to share your music tastes with friends and family

and they can share with you. Ping represents Apple's first real attempt at a wide-reaching social media strategy for its ubiquitous iTunes application.

- It allows you to share your music with family, friends, and others.

- You can follow your favorite artists.

- Ping is located on the left under Store and you have to turn it on.

- Follow the steps to turn on Ping, set your preferences, and you're good to go.

- Invite family and friends via email.

- You can change your Ping settings at any time.
