Show Notes

- Ensure you have thorough Back-ups of important data.

- Reinstall disc and serial number in hand.

- Put the disc into your CD/DVD drive.

- Click Start, then Turn Off Computer.

- When the dialog comes up press Restart.

- Your computer will reboot and you should see a prompt that says "Press Any Key To Boot From CD..."

- If you don't see this prompt, and your computer boots back to Windows, be sure to view part 5 of this series on fixing boot order.

- Windows Setup will begin loading files to start the reinstall.

- You arrive to the Windows XP Professional Setup screen.

- You want to press Enter to setup Windows XP Now!

- You do not want to "repair."

- At the license agreement press F8 to continue.

- Setup now shows you that it detects the current install of Windows XP.

- Again, we do not want to repair so we'll press Esc to install a fresh copy of Windows XP.

- Setup now shows you partition information. You want to install into the same partition Windows is already in so press Enter.

- Setup warns you that an operating system is present, but we know that don't we? So, press C to continue.

- Now we see formatting options, which we'll cover in part 4 of this series.
