More than just a one-stop shop for the news and updates that are interesting to you, Google Reader also lets you connect with friends to share stories, see and subscribe to the feeds that they're reading, share stories you find particularly interesting on your public page and even customize your Reader page with themes.

- Click on Shared settings.
- You can find friends in your existing Gmail contacts or add email addresses of friends and send an invitation.
- Once you have connected with friends, click on the Share button at the bottom of a story you find interesting to send it to your friends.
- Click on Shared items to customize your shared items page. You can choose from a few different themes and change the way your Google Reader shared page behaves.
