show notes

- The

Windows 7 taskbar

is wider and more clear. It also has new functions.

- The Quick Launch toolbar is gone.

- In its place is the ability to "pin" programs to the taskbar.

- Just right click on a program you want to keep in the taskbar and select Pin this program to the taskbar.

- You can also unpin programs.

- You can arrange icons in the taskbar simply by clicking on them and dragging them where you want them.

- The Start button is at the left end of the taskbar and now the Show Desktop button is at the right end of the taskbar.

- Click the button on the far right to clear your desktop and click it again to bring everything back.

- Windows from the same program minimize to the same icon which saves room.

- The taskbar also lets you "peek" at programs you have minimized.

- If you move your mouse over a minimized program it will show a thumbnail of that window.

- Click on the thumbnail to open that window.
