The new
Windows 7 taskbar
is easier than ever to use. You can pin programs to the taskbar, use jumplists to get quick access to the files and web sites you use most often and much more. The show desktop button has even been re-imagined. Here's what you need to know about the newWindows 7 taskbar

- The Quick Launch toolbar is gone.
- In its place is the ability to "pin" programs to the taskbar.
- Just right click on a program you want to keep in the taskbar and select Pin this program to the taskbar.
- You can also unpin programs.
- You can arrange icons in the taskbar simply by clicking on them and dragging them where you want them.
- The Start button is at the left end of the taskbar and now the Show Desktop button is at the right end of the taskbar.
- Click the button on the far right to clear your desktop and click it again to bring everything back.
- Windows from the same program minimize to the same icon which saves room.
- The taskbar also lets you "peek" at programs you have minimized.
- If you move your mouse over a minimized program it will show a thumbnail of that window.
- Click on the thumbnail to open that window.
