Tuesday June 29, 2010
Before you can actually

download files using torrents

, you'll need a

torrent client application

. This allows you to connect with other users (peers) and download files from them. In this episode, we'll show you how to

download and install uTorrent

Show Notes

- In order to download torrents, you must use a torrent client.

- In this tutorial series, we'll be using uTorrent.

- BitTorrent is the original torrent application.

- Because torrents are peer-to-peer, which means person-to-person, the client coordinates the transfers.

- Most Web browsers can't handle torrents by themselves.

- Torrent clients on the other hand are designed to download torrent files, which all have the file extension of .torrent

- Torrent clients, like BitTorrent and uTorrent, require very little in the way of setup.

- During setup, run the speed tests.

- You may also want to change where the torrent client will save your downloaded torrents.

I think that you should definitely try torchbrowser. I also used uTorrent in the past but after finding out about torch, I think there's no discussion about which is the best client.
