Sharing links on Twitter is all well and good, but how do you know who's visiting the links you post? Bit.ly is a great service that shortens URLs, just like TinyURL does, but with the added benefit of letting you see who's clicking on your links, when, how often and even if they're sharing them!

Show Notes

- By default, Twitter shortens any URLs you post using TinyURL.

- bit.ly lets you do more with your URLs.

- On the bit.ly homepage, paste in a long URL you'd like to shorten. Click on Original Custom Name, create a name and click shorten.

- Copy the resulting URL and you can paste it into a tweet.

- If you sign up for bit.ly, you can post to Twitter straight from bit.ly.

- After you accumulate some shortened URLs, you can click on them to find detailed analytics including how many clicks your links are getting, where those clicks are coming from and much more.
