One problem with using the iPad as your main machine has to do with moving files to and from your iPad. First, there are a few different ways that you can move your documents around. One such way is by using Dropbox, this allows you to share documents between multiple computers. Unfortunately, it can only upload images and videos at the moment.

On the plus side most apps have a few built-in ways of sharing documents. For example, within Pages, Numbers or GarageBand there are share icons in the application. In Pages, this lets you easily email a document to a contact.

An easier way to share multiple documents or files might be to share through iTunes. Choose this option and then plug the sync cable into your computer. If iTunes doesn't start up immediately then you'll need to open that. Under Apps you'll find a list of apps that have documents saved to the iPad. Find the application you worked in, select the files you want and click the option to save them to your computer.
