Using a computer can often be frustrating under the best of circumstances. Just think, however, how it seems to someone with visual or auditory disabilities. Things happening on the screen that they can't see, sounds playing that they can't hear, and so on. Ease of Access Center gives powerful tools to people with these types of disabilities so they can use a computer more effectively.

Show Notes

- Click on Start, then on Control Panel.

- In Control Panel double-click on Ease of Access Center.

- You'll see items like Magnifier that can enlarge portions of the screen.

- You can turn on Narrator which turns text to speech so people with visual problems can hear what's going on.

- You can increase the contrast to help people with visual problems like Macular Degeneration.

- Optimize the computer for blind persons who won't take advantage of fancy graphics and animations.

- Enable the on-screen keyboard for those who have problems with keyboards and mice.

- You can enhance the use of the keyboard with things like Sticky Keys, Filters, and the like.

- If you have family or friends with visual or auditory disabilities the Ease of Access Center can be a real benefit to them.
