Thursday July 30, 2009
While

TextExpander

comes with a nice selection of

Snippets

to get you started, it becomes most useful when you

create your own Snippets

. Snippets can insert plain text, contain variables, and will generally make your life and your typing easier.

Show Notes

- Open System Preferences either from the Dock or the Apple Menu.

- Click on

TextExpander

to open it up and click on the

Snippets tab

.

- A Snippet is the text that is expanded and inserted when you type the abbreviation.

- Some Snippets are included with TextExpander by default.

- To insert the date type in "ddate" and the it expands out to Wednesday; March 4, 2009 for example.

- To insert the time just type "ttime" and you get 12:10 PM for exmaple.

- It sometimes helps to have Abbreviations for your snippets that you won't accidentally use. Like putting the double "d" on "ddate."

- Snippets let you enter text quickly and easily.
