Twitter Attacked by StalkDaily worm

Twitter was hit by a worm this past weekend. The worm is called "StalkDaily and it sends false Twitter messages from any account that's become infected. These messages are sent without the knowledge of the account holder and they all contain the word "Mikeyy." Here's how to protect yourself and remove StalkDaily if you're infected.

- Don't use the Web-based version of Twitter.

- In particular do not view user profiles from a Web browser.

- Don't click on any links in any message the contains the word "Mikeyy."

- You can disable JavaScript in your browser.

- Use only third-party Twitter applications like , Seesmic Desktop, Twitterific, Twhirl, and others for the time being.

If you find you have the "StalkDaily" Worm you can remove it as follows:

- Turn off JavaScript.

- Clear your Web browser cache.

- Sign in to your Twitter account and delete all messages containing the word "Mikeyy"

- Turn JavaScript back on to manage your color scheme and fix your bio. You may also wish to change your password as an extra precaution.

- Log out of Twitter and use a third-party application.
