Understanding online status in Adium

When you're online you may be just browsing around. You may be working, you may feel like chatting with your friends or you may not have time. For this reason Adium makes it easy to quickly convey your status to all of your contacts. They know when you're available and they know when you're not.

Download Adium for the Mac and follow along with this tutorial series



- Open Adium.

- In the menu click on Status and then Edit Status Menu.

- You have many options as far as your status.

- You can click the + sign and create a new status message.

- Set yourself as Away, Extended Away, Invisible, or whatever else you want.

- You can customize each message and have messages for specific situations, like being on the phone.

- If you set your status to Invisible no one knows you're online.

- When you've created your Status messages you can close that out and go to Adium.

- Click on the drop-down menu and select the status that best suits you.
