- Insert your Windows 7 DVD into the drive on your computer.

- The drive should spin up the DVD automatically.

- If for some reason it doesn't just click Run and type X:\Setup.exe where X is the drive letter of your CD/DVD drive.

- The Windows 7 install comes up. If you need to you can check for compatibility.

- Click Install now.

- Windows 7 setup copies temporary files and then begins the setup.

- You're presented with a screen that asks if you want to go online to get the latest updates.

- This option is recommended. We bypassed it in the tutorial strictly to save time.

- Our recommendation is that you do click the option to check for updated files.

- You can also check the box if you want to help make Windows installations easier.

- Read the license agreement and check the box to agree. Click Next.

- Click on Custom Installation because you can't upgrade to Windows 7 from XP.

- You'll now see hard drives you have and you need to select where you want to install Windows 7.

- We'll continue the install in the next segment.
