- Keep in mind that you'll have to reinstall all of your programs and their associated data.

- People approach a "clean install" in different ways.

- A very reliable way is to have a solid backup of your programs and data.

- Make sure you have a solid backup on an external drive, thumb drive, or DVD.

- Here are three, excellent backup products:

- Image for Windows

- Macrium Reflect

- SyncBack

- If you plan to transfer setting you'll also want Windows Easy Transfer

- If you plan to backup data only, you'll want to make a list of all of your programs and download them.

- Put the programs on an external hard drive, DVD, or USB drive.

- Make certain that the program can import or restore the data once you've installed it in Windows 7.

- Make sure you have your registration codes which you can also put in a file.
