- Canned responses give you another level of power in Gmail.

- With canned responses, you can instantly send out replies based on subject, sender or other criteria.

- In Gmail, click on Settings and then click on Labs.

- Scroll down in Labs and find Canned responses.

- Enable it and then click Save Changes.

- Compose a canned response. No recipient is needed.

- Note that you now have a Canned response option above the message body.

- Click this option, select New canned response, and give it a name.

- Now, you want to create a filter to utilize your canned response.

- Click on Settings, then on Filters, and then on Create new filter.

- Set the criteria for your filter based on subject, keywords and so on.

- Click Next Step.

- In the Filter dialog you have the option to send a canned response.

- In our example, every email with the subject Help! will instantly receive the canned response Thanks.

- Use canned responses to reply to frequently ased questions.

- Have different canned responses for different groups or even individuals.
