Using FTP: Uploading with Filezilla
Have you created your Web site and now you need to get all the files up on your domain? Made changes to your existing site and want to get those changes uploaded? Download and install Filezilla
- With FileZilla open click File and then Site Manager.
- Click New and type in a name for the site.
- Type in a Host Name. This can be a URL, like www.mydomain.com or it
can be an IP address like 111.222.333.444.
- Use the File Transfer Protocol.
- Click normal and type in your username and password. This is
information you can obtain from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or domain registrar.
- When you're ready click connect and you'll be connected to your host.
- On the left-hand side are the files on your computer, while the right-hand side shows the files on your Web server.
- To transfer a file simply highlight it on the left-hand side, right-click, select Upload and the file is uploaded.
- In nearly all FTP clients, including FileZilla, you can also click on a file, hold down the left mouse button, drag the file to the Web server side, and drop it in order to transfer it.
