Using location and security settings in Android

Many applications, especially those found in the Android Market are more effective when they know your physical location - like an app that's going to

find the nearest gas station, restaurant or ATM

- so, it's helpful if you turn on the function so the Android phone can use GPS and wireless to narrow things down.

- Tap on Settings and inside Settings tap on Location and security.

- Under Location and security, tap on Use wireless networks.

- This will help certain applications, like Google Maps, display your location.

- Also, tap on Use GPS satellites. The check mark will turn green.

- This helps applications that need a more accurate pin-pointing of your location.

- Now, applications that need your location to provide you with accurate information will be able to do so.

- Note that these function will draw more battery power, so when they aren't needed you can uncheck them.
