Tuesday August 25, 2009
Notebooks are the foundation of Evernote. All of the data you

store is located in notebooks

.

Notebooks can be synchronized

online or hosted on just your computer, it's up to you. You can have some notebooks that are "local" and others that are kept in sync. Make as many notebooks as you need in Evernote.

Show Notes

- Open Evernote on your desktop.

- Click Tools and then Sign In.

- If you've already created your Evernote account you can just sign in,
but if not you can create your account right from here.

- Once you're in the Evernote interface it's time to

start creating some Notebooks

.

- Click File, New, and then Notebook.

- Give your notebook a name that means something to you.

- Notebooks are a great way to put your information into categories.

- You have the option to have each Notebook be either synchronized or
Local only.

- If a

Notebook

is synchronized it's available on your desktop, on the Web, and from your mobile device.

- If a notebook is Local only then the information is only available on the computer the notebook was created on.

- You can

make any Notebook

the default notebook. The default notebook
is the one that receives new notes that come in via email and so on.

- You can elect to publish your Notebook. Publishing puts the
information on the Web under your account. Only you have access to it.

- Note that if you selected Local only there are no publishing options available.

- Under publishing you can give a description to your Notebook and decide how notes are sorted.
