In order to interact with your
AppleTV device
, you'll need to either use theremote control
provided or use aniPad, iPod or iPhone
with the remote app set up. In this episode, we'll focus onusing the AppleTV remote
and we'll start by showing you how to use it tonavigate through the AppleTV menus

- The AppleTV comes with a remote but can also be controlled using a remote application on an iPhone, iPad or iPod.
- For now, we'll be using the remote control, but look for a tutorial on using the remote application in a future episode.
- The remote has a Menu button that is used as to go to the top of menus.
- There are also four directional buttons with a central button that is used to select options.
- There is also a play/pause button that will either play or pause media that is currently selected.
- From the AppleTV menu, you'll see five columns: Movies, TV Shows, Internet, Computers and Settings.
- TV Shows is an option that is currently not available in Canada.
