You already know that you can use Gmail to send emails. If you've been keeping up with our earlier tutorials, you'll also know that you can use Gmail to

chat with other Gmail users

. Now we'll show you

how to use Gmail video chat

to talk to any of your friends who are online! You'll be able to see who's online and who has a webcam, and you'll be able to

start a chat

whenever you want.

Note: Before beginning this series please view the complete Gmail 101, Gmail 201 and Gmail 301 series of tutorials.

- Go here to get the program for Google Video Chat.

- Install that and then go back to Gmail.

- In Gmail's Google Talk, you'll now see a camera icon next to contacts who also have video chat installed.

- You can elect to do voice chat or video chat with audio.

- You can also send an SMS text message from the interface.

- Your image sizes down to the lower right-hand corner leaving the majority of room for the image of the person you're talking with.

- Click Pop out to have your video chat appear in a separate window.
