- When deciding how to pay for your online purchases, you may decide that PayPal isn't the best method for you. If you pay by credit card, make sure that you see signs like "

Verified by Visa

" or "

VeriSign

" when entering in your credit card information.

- Paying with a credit card might also let you collect rewards points, depending on the card, so that you can get things like airline tickets and gift cards.

- Check with your credit card company to see what they can offer you. Also, some cards offer extensions on a manufacturers warranty, which is important if you're buying pricey items like electronics.

- If you're a victim of fraud, paying with a credit card will usually have you covered, but again, check with your credit card company.

- If you don't want to pay with a credit card because you're uncomfortable about giving your personal information out, then seriously consider using PayPal which allows you to pay with the click of the button.

- You do need to sign up for a PayPal account and connect your bank account to your PayPal account, but after that you won't need to use a credit card, which ensures that you won't also be stuck with costly interest because you'll be paying for items in full at the time of purchase.

Great educational slide show! Working for VeriSign, I applaud sites that reach out to users with instruction that is straight forward, and easy to understand. I will pass this along. One of the major reasons PayPal is so popular is because it employs extended validation ssl, which is a great way to determine the legitimacy of a website. How can you tell? the most trusted visual cue is the green url bar. Take it a step further and click on the website name which opens the certificate revealing critical information such as the issuer, date of expiration etc.
