Using your digital SLR's shutter priority mode

If you're planning on

using your digital SLR camera

in shutter priority mode there are a couple of things you should know. In this episode we'll show you

how to use shutter priority mode

and tell you

how to avoid overexposure

when taking shots. We'll also show you

how to get motion blur

in your shots, which is a really neat effect.

- Shutter priority mode is often labeled Tv or T on many DSLRs.

- In shutter priority mode, you'll have control over the shutter speed while the aperture value is determined by the camera.

- While you might not immediately be able to tell the difference between modes, this setting does allow for great potential.

- What shutter priority does best is capture a sense of motion.

- By using a fast shutter speed you may capture things that the human eye would otherwise not see.

- Using a slower shutter speed will capture motion blur to create some really artistic shots.

- If the shutter speed is too slow, and the environment too bright, the aperture may not be able to compensate and your picture may be overexposed.
