- There are many pros and cons to using a LiveCD or LiveDVD to run Ubuntu.

- On the plus side:

- You can run Ubuntu or other Linux distributions without impacting your computer.

- LiveCD or DVD makes it easy to boot up Ubuntu anytime you like.

- LiveCD DVD gives you a way to evaluate Ubuntu and see if you like it.

- However:

- Anything you install disappears when you turn off the machine.

- Running from a disc drive the performance is much less than it would be on a hard drive.

- You can't have anything permanent under LiveCD or DVD.
