One fairly dramatic change in Windows 7 RC1 is the new taskbar. It has some new features, it's lost some old features, and overall it's greatly improved. One of these improvements is "hot colors." Hot colors let you know what's going on with program icons sitting in the taskbar.

Show Notes
- When a program is open and sitting in the taskbar in Windows 7 RC1 it displays a "hot color" when you move the mouse cursor over it.
- The hot color is comprised mainly of the primary color of the programs icon.
- For example the hot color for Firefox is orange because the Firefox icon is orange in nature.
- A program that is simply pinned to the taskbar but that is not currently running will not display a hot color.
- Hot colors give you a way to quickly see what programs are open and which are not in Windows 7 RC1.
