Show Notes

- Peer-to-peer is often abbreviated as P2P.

- A traditional download from a site like www.butterscotch.com is not peer-to-peer.

- In those instances, the site supplying the file is the server and the one downloading it is the client.

- A P2P transfer is conducted directly between clients, or peers, with no server involved.

- Instant messaging networks like ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk, etc. all provide peer-to-peer file transfers.
