In forms, databases, and all over the Web, you'll find fields. Not fields of gold, not fields of green, but fields that contain data... or at least, fields that will contain data once you input it. Doc explains.

- A "field" is commonly found in databases and forms.

- A field holds one piece of data.

- "Name:" for example is a field.

- Fields are used in databases to organize data.

- You can have date fields, alphanumeric fields, and so on.

- In the case of a date field, for example, only a date can be placed in it.

- Username is a field that contains the text string that is your username.
