We understand what a host is at a party and what he or she does to be considered such. However,

what the heck is a host when talking about the web and computers?

Turns out, these two types of hosts are not dissimilar. Michael "Doctor File Finder" Callahan explains.

- A host is a computer system that provides information to remote users, called clients.

- A host is most often a server and it provides the clients with the things they request.

- A company that hosts your Web site is also a host because it contains your Web pages.

- You'll sometimes hear the term client/host because the two go together like employer/employee.
