When you're transferring data it's often helpful to know how fast it's moving. Mbits/s or Mbits/sec is a shorthand notation for megabits per second, but what does that mean? Doc explains.

- You'll also see Mbits/sec shortened to Mb/s or Mbps.

- A Mbps is 1,000,000,000,000 bits per second.

- It's also 1,000,000 kilobits per second.

- You can also express it as 125,000,000,000 bytes per second.

- So, Mbits/s is a measure of data transfer speed.
