Show Notes

- A rootkit gets its name from "root" which is the superuser in Linux systems and "kit" which refers to a group of utilities.

- A rootkit is designed to hide itself completely in your system.

- It isn't seen in any file manager and it doesn't show up in the task manager.

- A "rootkit" can control your machine and take it over completely.

- Today, most anti-virus programs can also detect and remove rootkits.

- In some cases, a rootkit can be used to monitor employees or children, but for the most part rootkits are malware.
